Rockwall County Gameday is dedicated to bringing you the latest updates on the journeys of our hometown volleyball teams as they chase their playoff dreams. Each week, we’ll be your guide through each intense rally and hard-fought match as our local volleyball players seek to secure playoff glory.
Spike Summary Playoff Update
In week 2 of playoffs, the battles on the court were nothing short of epic as our favorite teams faced some tough opponents in pursuit of an area championship! The stakes were higher, the competition fiercer, and the thrill more intense than ever before. With every serve, spike, and dig, these athletes displayed incredible determination and passion for the sport of volleyball and their community. Rockwall
On Thursday, the Rockwall Yellowjacket Volleyball Team went head-to-head with the Cedar Hill Longhorns. The Rockwall Yellowjacket Volleyball was determined to secure another area championship, but Cedar Hill would not go down without a fight. In the end, the Yellowjackets were victorious over 4 sets! Here’s the score breakdown:
- 1st Set: Rockwall 25 – Cedar Hill 17
- 2nd Set: Rockwall 23 – Cedar Hill 25
- 3rd Set: Rockwall 25 – Cedar Hill 17
- 4th Set: Rockwall 25 – Cedar Hill 22
Final Score: 3-1 for a Rockwall victory! 🏐🧡
Tuesday (11/7/23), the Rockwall Yellowjacket Volleyball Team will face off against the Sachse Mustangs at Richardson High School at 6:30pm. Sachse placed 1st in their district bracket with a 15-1 record and beat out Weiss on Friday. If the Yellowjackets are successful, they will move on to the regional semifinals where they will face either Bridgeland or Grand Oaks.
Royse City
On Friday, the Royse City Volleyball Team clashed against the Mansfield Tigers. Mansfield started out strong, winning the first set, but the Royse City Volleyball Team was determined to secure an area championship and fought for every point over the course of 4 sets. In the end, they were victorious! Here’s the score breakdown:
- 1st Set: Royse City 23 – Mansfield 25
- 2nd Set: Royse City 25 – Mansfield 23
- 3rd Set: Royse City 25 – Mansfield 21
- 4th Set: Royse City 26 – Mansfield 24
Final Score: 3-1 for a Royse City victory!🏐💛
Tuesday (11/7/23), the Royse City Volleyball Team will face off against the Wylie East Raiders at Caddo Mills High School at 6:30pm. Wylie East placed 2nd in their district bracket with an 14-2 record and beat out Midway on Friday. The Raiders were also the team that eliminated Rockwall-Heath from playoffs in round one. Given that the Bulldogs defeated Rockwall-Heath twice in district, leads us to believe that this will be an exciting match up! If the Bulldogs are victorious, they will move on to the regional semifinals where they will face either The Woodlands or Tomball Memorial.
Dallas Christian
On Saturday, the Dallas Christian Chargers went head-to-head with Grace Prep Academy of Arlington. The Charger Volleyball Team gave it their all and fought through some fierce competition. However, they fell to Grace Prep in 3 sets and have been eliminated from the playoff bracket. Here’s the score breakdown:
- 1st Set: Dallas Christian 22 – Grace Prep 25
- 2nd Set: Dallas Chrisitan 23 – Grace Prep 25
- 3rd Set: Dallas Christian 18 – Grace Prep 25
Final Score: 0-3 in favor of Grace Prep
While it may not be the end result that the Chargers were looking for, we are so proud of the way they fought for each point. We congratulate this group of determined young ladies for their successes and progress over the course of this season.
